A Study of the Role of Religion in Prevention of Crimes from the Viewpoints of Ordinary People and Criminals

Background and
Purpose
religious beliefs can play a significant role in controlling individuals in dangerous and crime-generating situations. So, we have addresses the role of religion in preventing crimes.
Methodology
in this field study using a questionnaire including demographic factors, some questions regarding the effect of religious factors in reducing crime was administered on 64 offenders and 40 students Qom Islamic Azad University as the ordinary people. The descriptive statistics were frequency, percentile. In order to examine the research hypotheses, the binominal and Chi-square tests were employed. The SPSS software was used for data analyses.
Findings
The results obtained from binomial test showed that with regard to the level of significance of binomial test and the frequency of data, criminals consider religion as an important factor in reducing crime. But ordinary people do not consider religion as an effective factor in reducing crime.
Conclusion
if people adhere to religious beliefs, not only the crime is reduced, but also it leads to human growth prosperity.
