Biostratigraphy of the Kazhdumi Formation Tang-e-Maghar Section, NW of Behbahan based on Planktonic Foraminifera
In order to study of biostratigraphy and age dating of Kazhdumi Formation، based on Planktonic Foraminifera and correlation of identified biozones with global standard biozones، this formation at Tang-e-Maghar have been studied. In this study 73 samples of Kazhdumi Formation، with 270 meter thickness، have been collected. The main lithological units at the studied section consist of the black bituminous shale and marl with interbedded limestone. Study of planktonic foraminifera assemblages led to identification of 33 species belonging to 8 genera of index foraminifera of the Tethyan realm at studied section. In this study، 7 biozones including Globigerinelloides blowi Interval Zone، Leupoldina cabri Taxon Range Zone، Globigerinelloides ferreolensis Partial Range Zone، Hedbergella trocoidea Partial Range Zone، Paraticinella bejaouensis Interval Zone، Muricohedbergella planispira Interval Zone and Ticinella primula Interval Zone have been identified، which show late Early Aptian – Middle Albian ages and all of identified biozones can be correlated with Premoli Silva and verga 2004 biozones.
