The role of emotional control and relational beliefs in predicting couple burnout

Abstract:
Introduction
Couple Burnout is defined as the state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion and occurs due to failure in love. The current study was conducted in order to investigate the relationships between emotional control and relational beliefs with couple burnout.
Method
the method of this study was descriptive - correlational. All married people in Rasht city in autumn of 1393 comprised statistical population of this study. One hundred and fifty people (87 female and 63 male), had been selected randomly by multistage cluster sampling method and responded to the questionnaire of couple burnout, emotional control and relational beliefs at their homes. Collected data were analyzed by person correlation and multiple regression tests.
Results
The results showed that couple burnout are related positively to rumination (r=0.26; p<0.001), emotional inhibition (r=0.16; p<0.04), the belief of disruptive aversion (r=0.38; p<0/001), expecting of mind reading (r=0.27; p<0.001), and belief of on variation partner (r=0.28; p<0.001), sexual perfectionism (r=0.26; p<0.001), but negatively correlated to aggression control (r=-0.21; p<0.008). Furthermore, results of regression analyze showed that 17% of variance of couple burnout were explained by relational beliefs and 12% of variance were explained by emotional control.
Conclusion
These results show that irrational beliefs and emotional control play important role in predicting of couple burnout.
