Gregor Schoeler and validation of the Prophetic Sira narrations

Message:
Abstract:
Gregor Schoeler is one of the western contemporary scholars on history of Islam and Hadith that some of his works on history of Hadith have been published. His writings about the beginning of the writing and the verbal and written quotation of the Islamic tradition، can be pointed as his works. Among current western studies on Islam، he is a traditionalist scholar who believes that despite transitional changing of the Islamic sources، they are historically valuable. According to the Schoeler''s own word، he is interested in the study on methodological issues which related to research in oral quote and he defends the approach of «Hadith Criticism». In his book «Biography of Muhammad، the quiddity and the authenticity»، he had utilized the evolved approach of cognition by Juynboll to analyze the Prophetic Sira narrations and he had synthesized Juynboll''s documental analysis in the «Joint Link» with the comparison of the narrations'' contexts to improve Juynboll''s methodology. Preface of the book contains a synoptic but comparatively general and critical overview to the works of the Sira study and current western actions in this realm، which have been discussing since the 19th century up to now.
