The Effectiveness of Emotional Intelligence Training on Student's Time Management

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of emotional intelligence training to improve the time management and self-efficacy of girls students. The study population consisted of all first year girls high school students that were enrolled in schools of Hir city in 2012-2013 school year. Two classes included 20 Students, totaling 40 female students were selected with randomly clusters and were Divided in experimental and control groups. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with pre-test - post-test groups.. The Barling, Kelloway & Cheung questionnaire of time management, Schwarz and Jerusalem self-efficacy questionnaire and Bradbury emotional intelligence questionnaire was used for data collecting. The obtained data were analyzed using multivariate covariance. The results showed that individuals who took part in the training of emotional intelligence than those who did not participate in the course, manage their time and have a greater self-efficacy. It turned out that most variance of the short-term, time management, in comparison With variance of the long-term, time management and variance of self-efficacy was explained by emotional intelligence training. The present study extends the research literature on time management and self-efficacy, and emphasize on special attention to the emotional intelligence by school counselors.
