Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between identity and religiosity and professional maturity among students. Using multistage cluster sampling, 400 students of Allameh Tabatabaii University were selected in the academic year 93-92. They responded to the three questionnaires of Berzonsky’s identity styles inventory (ISI-6G) (1998), upholding religious beliefs (temple) Golzari (1379), and Savykas and Porfeli’s professional maturity (2011).Results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between identity and religiosity styles and professional maturity at p<0.01. Commitment of identity is the main predictor (positive) and disoriented / avoiding identity styles are the negative predictors of professional maturity. Religiosity in the obligatory duties predicts professional maturity. In addition, the normative identity style and commitment of identity play a significantly positive role in the prediction of religiosity and its dimensions. The results of this study can be used for finding strategies for enrichment of the youth’s identity through deepening their religious beliefs, as well as training and improving their professional maturity.
