Abstract:
The aim of this correlational study was to investigate the prediction components of alexithymia based on the dimensions of temperament and character of personality. The statistical population included all female teachers at the schools of Kermanshah city in 92-93 academic year. Using multistage cluster sampling method، 300 female teachers were selected and were asked to complete temperament and character inventory cloninger (1986)، and Toronto alexithymia scale (Bagby، Parker& Taylor، 1994). The analysis Fundamental correlation coefficient showed that predictor variable could predict 45% variance of criterion variable، also the results of enter regression analysis showed that temperament dimensions of high harm avoidance، low dependence reward، and temperament dimension of low self-directed and self-transference are able to significantly predict components of alexithymia. Regarding with the current study findings، we can argue that personality characteristics could affect individuals’ cognitive processing of emotional information and emotions regulation.
