The Evaluation of Analytical and Numerical Effects of Thickness of Shaped Charge's Liner

Message:
Abstract:
One application of energetic materials in the military is shaped charged warhead. The most important application of this type of warheads is penetration into target. For this purpose, several factors influence the design of shaped charge. Liner thickness is one of most effective factors in the design of shaped charge, which has a significant role in jet Velocity and depth of penetration in target. In this study, a liner with thickness of 1.5 mm was first analyzed and the results were compared with numerical results in order to indicate the validity of numerical results. Then, using AUTODYN nonlinear code, 1,1.5,2.5 and 3.5 mm thicknesses are considered for the liner of the desired shaped charged and performance parameters such as jet Velocity, breakup time and depth of penetration resulting from the thicknesses in 1006 steel target were compared. The results of this comparison showed that a liner with thickness of 1.5 mm has the most depth of penetration.
