Analysis of Dynamic Response of Doubly Curved Composite laminates Shells Initially Stressed under Low Velocity Impact

Message:
Abstract:
In this paper, analysis of dynamic impact response of doubly curved composite shells initially stressed is studied analytically. The governing equations based on the first-order deformation theory (FSDT) are derived for simply supported boundary conditions. The contact force history is predicted using two models of improved spring-mass and complete couple model. Considering the displacement components as the doubly Fourier series, equations of motion of the shell and impactor are solved analytically by writing a code in Matlab software using Galerkin method, so that the dynamic response of shell is obtained. The effects of parameters, such as curvature changes, aspect ratio (curvature length ratio), fiber orientation, tension, compression and shear initial stresses on the impact response are studied. Obtained results from both presented models are compared.
