The Role of Good Governance in the Promotion of Human Development: an international Study

Abstract:
Recent study examines the impact of good governance on the Human Development Index. In the present study¡ the Human Development Index (HDI) considered as dependent variable¡ good governance is independent variables and the development of communication technology has been considered as the moderator variable. The study approach is econometric panel data analysis and GLS regression analysis was used to test the research hypotheses. Findings of model for countries with per capita GDP of less than U.S. $ 6¡800 shows that the coefficients of the control of corruption¡ political stability¡ government effectiveness and freedom of expression are at significant level and can be used to estimate the level of human development. The prediction equation for countries with GDP higher than $ 6¡800 per year shows that the coefficients of the variables of government effectiveness¡ regulatory quality and internet users are significant. Finally¡ finding suggests that in the Southeastern countries of Asia the coefficients of the political stability and government effectiveness are significant for predicting levels of human development.
