The Role of Information and Communication Technologies in Educational and Research Performance of Faculty Members

For responding to how integration of ICT in educational and research activities for improvement of higher education quality based on improving faculty members performance, a study with the purpose of determination of the role of ICT usage on educational and research performance of faculty members was conducted. Investigation of the role of individual and academic characteristics of faculty members in extent of ICT usage at Tabriz public universities was other goal of this study. In this applied and descriptive study, statistical population was faculty members of Tabriz, Shahid Madani and Tabriz Payam-e-Noor Universities in total 1092 people. With stratified random sampling 195 questionnaires were gathered. For data gathering three questionnaires are used with Cronbach's alpha for reliability: the extent of ICT usage (0.90), educational (0.92) and research performance of faculty members (0.74). Results showed that the extent of ICT usage are lower than average and ICT usage is predictor of educational and research performance. In addition the extent of faculty members, ICT usage is significantly different bases of academic disciplines, academic degree, age and teaching experience of instructors.
