Effectiveness of the Process of Creative Problem Solving in improving Public Health and Reduce Perceived Stress to Drug-dependent People

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of the process of creative problem solving (CPS) in improving public health and reducing perceived stress to drug-dependent Persons.
Ina semi-experimental study, 46 individuals who had started Methadone treatment in the drug-abuse treatment center in Tehran divided into an experimental (23 subjects) and a control (23 subjects) group. The experimental group under went eight 60 minutes sessions of creative problem solving process training and the control group did not receive any particular treatment. All participants completed the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) and Perceived stress scale (Pss 10) at the beginning of the study, end of cognitive-behavioral group therapy period and three months following the completion of treatment and underwent urine tests for morphine. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Covariance Test.
Covariate results showed significant difference in improving General Health and reducing perceived stress of two groups.
Creative Problem Solving Process Training is effective in the improvement of General Health and reduction of perceived stress to drug-dependent people.
