The Structural Relationship of Empowering Leadership and Team Climate with Organizational Performance: The Mediating Role of Knowledge Sharing

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper was to test the structural relationship of empowering leadershipand team climate with organizational performance and also with the mediating role of knowledge sharing atSemnan and Shiraz Universities. Participants were 295 employees (180 employees from Shiraz University and 115 employees from Semnan University) who were selected by using simple random sampling method. All of the participants completed scales of empowering leadership, team climate, organizational performance and knowledge sharing. Data were analyzed with path analysis model by usingLISREL software. Results showed that empowering leadershiphad a structural effect on organizational performance directly. Team climate by mediating knowledge sharing attitude had an indirect effect on organizational performance. Also, team climate had a direct effect on knowledge sharing behavior. Knowledge sharing attitude had a direct effect on organizational performance. Empowering leadershipcan directly affect organizational performance. But the formation of team climate indirectly and by attitude toward knowledge sharing can affect performance. Practical implications of the findings were discussed.
