The role of identity styles and meaning of life on the mental health of university female students

Aim: The study aims was to determine the role of identity styles and meaning in life in mental health girl students.
Method of research was correlation and the research population being the Behbahan Islamic Azad University girl students (308 patients) were enrolled in the four disciplines. To conduct this study, 152 girl students selected by cluster random sampling method. Assessment tools were consisted of indentity styles inventory Berzonesky (1989), general health questionnaire Goldberg (1972) and purpose in life Crombaugh and Maholic(1969)inventory. Data were analyzed by using pearson`s correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
Results showed that there were significant relationships between Identity informational style with depression and between Meanings in life with mental health and there were significant multiple correlation between meaning in life and Identity normative style with mental health and the most predictive variables for mental health of students.
The purpose and meaning of life and the other having the proper identity of the style will lead to an increase in mental health. Then people can use the appropriate training and finding purpose and meaning in life, and then, feeling joy in his life successful. Also with respect to identity and a sense of style that's the way it seeks with all aspects of physical, psychological, social and mental goes Providing training to the competent authorities for personal and social development, the underlying identity development, increased expression in normal and mental health in them.
