Etymology of the word translated (Tarjomeh)

Abstract:
This paper attempts to investigate the word translated (Tarjomeh) according to its evidence, origin, form and meaning. Previous researchs indicate that the word Tarjomaan which the word translated (Tarjomeh) is derived from it, has been imported into Arabic from two sources, one from Syriac language in meaning of interpretation and explanation and another from Persian language in meaning of turning language to another language and both of meaning in Arabic have much evidence. This word been common in Arabic at the late Umayyad period especially at the beginning of the Abbasid period which coincides with the beginning of the era of translation movement. The words translated (Tarjomeh) and tarjomaan are used at different meanings. Two meanings are main and the rest are secondary. In persian, in the works of the fourth century onwards, the word translated (Tarjomeh) has been used in meaning of translator and Deylamage
