A study of the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem with social skills

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem with male and female high-school student's social skills. The statistical population was all the students (male and female) which added to 2896 people. Using Morgan's table the sample size was 341 people. The sampling method was stratified random sampling. To gather the data Matson's social skills, Bar-on's emotional intelligence and cooper smith's self-esteem tests were used. To analyses the data inferential statistics (AVOVA and Pearson's correlation) was used. The results showed that there was a significant difference between emotional intelligence and self-esteem with skills. These two variables predicted 28% of changes in social skills. The statistical analysis showed that among the emotional intelligence components (Festivity, interpersonal, control, social responsibility are significant anticipators social kills variables.
