Abstract:
The aim of the present study was to investigate the attentional bias in relation to anxiety faces (happy, angry and neutral) among the female adolescents with high and low state-trait anxiety. The sample size was 60 adolescents female aged 16 to 18 with high state-trait anxiety (n=30). To gather the data the Spilberger state-trait anxiety inventory was used. To assess the selective process, picture-pair Dot probe task was used. To analyse the data, analysis of variance with repeated measurement was used. The results showed that interaction between the state-trait anxiety and attentional bias was only significant for angry faces and for other emotional faces (happy and neutral) was not significant. This study indicated that the adolescents with high state-trait anxiety showed considerable vigilant comparing with angry faces, while the adolescents with low state-trait anxiety showed considerable avoidant comparing with the same faces.
