The Evaluation of Hashtgerd New Town based on Iranian Islamic Urbanism Indicators
New towns are deemed to be the settlements where all stages of design, formation, and construction are accomplished following a certain schedule; in view of that, if all the Islamic principles and values are judiciously applied during those stages, an archetype of an Iranian Islamic city can be realized; in order to manifest the Islamic values in the city construction, the identification and exploration of the values that can and should demonstrate and assure the Iranian Islamic identity in an Islamic complex are absolutely required; Although numerous effective principles and values are at work, this study singled out three indicators Using Delphi as the fundamental principles as follows: Mosque- based, Introspection, Neighborhood-based and Naturalism. The reason commissioned us to set forth this study is to Evaluation new town base on Iranian Islamic urbanism indicators. With the aim of that, Hashtgerd New Town located near Tehran and Karaj and regarded as one of the most popular city among new towns with a population of around 22819, was explored as the case of this study. This is an applied research and a descriptive-analytical approach was utilized. For data collection, methods of library and field research were adopted. For data analysis, Frequency, Mean, and Standard Deviation were estimated and a One-sample T-test was conducted via SPSS software. The results revealed that the index of Mosque- based, Introspection, Neighborhood-based and naturalism in line with the unique criteria of Iranian Islamic urban construction has been overlooked by the urban designers and constructors of Hashtgerd New Town.
