Author(s):
Abstract:
Background
Wound healing is a complex patho-physiological process which includes cellular and biochemical reactions such as inflammation, vessel formation and collagen deposition. In the present study, the anti-inflammatory and treatment effects of hydro-alcohol extracts of Plantago lanceolata, Taraxacum officinale And Quercus robur were compared with the effect of zinc oxide after wounding rats.
Materials And Methods
Forty male rats underwent anesthesia, then a circular wound with a range of 280 mm2 was created on the back of the rats. The treatment process included five groups as false control, positive control and treatment with extracts of Plantago lanceolata, Taraxacum officinale And Quercus robur. The drugs administration and measurement of the wounds were done by digital image analysis in 21 alternating days. The analysis of the data was carried out using one-way ANOVA.
Results
The percentage of wound healing increased significantly in groups with extracts of Plantago lanceolata and zinc oxide compared to the control groups in fifth, ninth and thirteenth days. The percentage of wound healing significantly P
Conclusion
The fastest healing of wounds was dedicated to the hydro-alcohol extract of Plantago lanceolata Hydro-alcohol extract of Plantago lanceolata which had more anti-inflammatory effects compared to zinc oxid by reducing the inflation, and decreasing the duration of complete wound healing.
