Social Deviances in Isfahan before Islamic Revolution (Historical Study

Author(s):
Abstract:
Studying social deviances is one of the social science branches and is usually undertaken to investigate the current community. In this paper attempts have been made by relying on Pahlavi’s documents and media in Isfahan, to study social deviances like prostitution, gambling and addiction and explain its dimensions through a qualitative method. Also attempts have been made to demonstrate the role of dominant cultural policies in containment or spread of these deviances. The findings of this paper show that the previous regime did not make enough effort to control these deviances, which was protested by people who were aware of the situation. The objection was partly manifested in the course of the Islamic Revolution.
