Evaluation of Teaching Quality through Comparative Study in Higher Education

Nowadays, Iranian higher education is facing national and global issues and challenges. Not considering the quality of university components, it causes resources wasting. The quality of teaching in higher education is one of the criteria that can be paid attention in assessing the quality of processes. The quality of education and teaching can leave valuable effects and enhance the values and merits of human resource. This research is conducted by comparative study and the quality of teaching is examined in Iran and 6 countries (France, the US, the UK, Australia, India and Japan). Sampling method of these countries is based on strategically sampling and conducted by purposive sampling method. The results indicate that in most of the compared countries, the assessment of the quality of teaching is done by various internal and external sources and groups and includes more components. While in Iran, assessing the quality of teaching is mostly done by students. Finally, to improve the quality of teaching in Iranian higher education, some recommendations are presented.
