Establishing the Role of Family, School and Reference Friends in Socio-Cultural Needs of Students

In recent decades the role of family, school, and reference groups has been paid heed by scholars and men of letters in humanities because of the importance of the Socio-cultural needs especially the teenagers and the young. Accordingly, the main purpose of this study is to identify the most important socio-cultural needs and the role of reference groups in prioritizing such needs among students. This study employs a social survey and applies questionnaires to collect data. To determine coefficient of internal coherence, items related to various socio-cultural needs indices were calculated by Cronbachsalpha according to which alpha value for all indices exceeded 70% representing the high reliability of measurement indices. The population consisted all male and female high school students in Kashan, in 1391-1392. 405 students were randomly selected and surveyed as the study sample using Cochran sampling formula. Research results indicated the significant role of teachers in prioritizing socio-cultural needs of students. Secondly, classmate friends and family members were found to play a key role on this interface.
