The Impact of Organizational Culture on the Empowerment of Staff (Case Study: National Library and Archives of Iran)

Abstract:
Purpose
To identify the effect of organizational culture on the empowerment of National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) staff.
Methodology
This survey is conducted on 285 staffs of NLAI using a questionnaire. Robins model is used to recognize organizational culture and Thomas and Velthouse models to identify empowerment factors.
Results
There is a direct and significant correlation between organizational culture factors (risk taking, management support, formal control, self-control, reward system, participation in decision-making and organizational identity) and staff empowerment.
Conclusion
The organizational culture which empowers staffs causes more motivation and enthiusiasm among staff to fullfil their jobs with increased creativity and innovation.
