Assessment south of West Azerbaijan lands for agricultural development and management of rural sustainable development using AHP and GIS and Aster images

The aim of this study was to assess the suitability of fertile soils to grow and increase in production of sugar beet cultivation and Rural Development is using AHP and GIS. For this purpose, digital data layers annual rainfall, growing season precipitation, annual temperature, growing season temperatures, temperature germination period, topographical map layers, altitude, slope, aspect and soil type, vegetation, land use, rural areas and roads were collected. By using AHP weighting, was carried out with the aid of digital map layers Overlay function in ArcGIS, map layers were combined and analyzed. The results showed that, although 18% of the total land area suitable for sugar beet cultivation and are in very good condition, but if proper utilization of soil and water resources can play an important role in the stabilization and reduction of rural migration.
