Time, Narrative and Characterization in Slaughterhouse-Five By Kurt Vonnegut
Abstract:
This essay is an analytical research in types of narrative techniques, characterization and special functions of the time dimensions, in the historical-fictional narration of the novel Slaughter house 5 by Kurt Vonnegut, the American contemporary author.
The essay contains three parts. The first part is a brief introduction of the work. the second part contains the theories in relation with the essay, referring one of liotards theories in the post-modern narration as well as one of the Russian formalists in narratology. the third part, is an analyze of the narrative techniques, time and personages in the book Slaughter house 5.
In this essay, the author has tried to introduce the theories, in fictional and historical narrative using the related examples through the text, as well as analyzing the writing techniques in this historical-fictional-social work, so that the narrative process of the work will be familiarized over for the new-readers.
