Providing a Model for the Defensive Driving Training Course

In a triad interaction of the driver, vehicle and roads, the driver accounts for 70% and vehicles and roads account for 30% jointly. In addition to the said data, human mistakes account for the main cause of accidents according to road police data. This issue indicates the significance and major position of the driver and drivers training on the safety of roads. One of the major training courses for drivers which increase their skills in preventing from accidents and increase road safety is defensive driving. Defensive driving is a manner of driving which contributes to the preservation of time, health and financial resources despite the conditions of the surrounding and actions on the part of other drivers. Using defensive driving training and techniques, one can sharply reduce risky situations and other's mistakes. Defensive driving training offers scientific strategies for avoiding accidents and reducing resulting casualties. According to the recommended model, two courses of Risks Theories and Defensive Driving Skills and one pragmatic course on applying defensive driving techniques have been foreseen for drivers. The findings suggest that the defensive driving training course model results in reduced possibility of accidents and damages from vehicles, increases the observance of laws and improves drivers; mental conditions while driving on the roads.
