Food label: Concepts, Functions and the Reasons for Use or Non- Use

Nowadays, purchase decisions are mostly concluded in store and packaging of product is designed to limit the need to sales force at the point of sale. Labels have hence probably become the most important and most influential factor during consumer decision making. Because most of the information that consumers need, such as branding and product ingredients are printed on product labels. The aim of this paper is to provide knowledge about the importance of label in choosing food products. In this study, an attempt has hence made to, with a thorough view on label, examine importance, concepts, labelling requirements, functions and reasons for its use or non-use.
