The Role of Negative Emotions, Mental Rumination, And Behavioral Inhibition System In prediction Of the Symptoms of Premenstrual dysphoric Disorder among Female Students of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University in 2015

Abstract:
Introduction
Premenstrual dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a mental - physical disease initiated by changing the levels of sex steroids in menstrual–ovulation cycle. Thus, the present study was conducted aiming to investigate the role of negative emotions, mental rumination, and Behavioral Inhibition System in prediction of the symptoms of premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder in female students of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University in 2015.
Materials And Methods
The statistical population of this descriptive study included all female students of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University in 2015. Using a Convenience Sampling method, 267 students were selected for this study. Research tools were; the Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool (PSST), Five-Factor Jackson Personality Inventory, Penn State Worry, Rumination, the Beck Depression -II (BDI-II), and the Beck Anxiety (BAI). Data was analyzed using regression method by applying Path Analysis Method.
Results
The findings of the present research depicted that anxiety with explanation force of about 29/2 percent (p=0/001, β=0/435) and depression with explanation force of 27 (p=0/001, β=0/356), and also variables of mental rumination (p=0/001, β=0/171), behavioural inhibition (p=0/001, β=0/213), and worry (p=0/001, β=0/142) were significant in the prediction of symptoms regarding Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder.
Conclusion
The results of this study illustrated that variables of anxiety, depression, worry, mental rumination, and behavioural inhibition are associated with the symptoms of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. These results proved the significance of paying more attention to the mental health of students and also designing more efficient practical plans for promotion of mental health-related issues is of paramount importance.
