The popularity of state television broadcasting in Iran (Case study: viewers in the city of Shiraz)

The aim of the investigation is the popularity of state television broadcasting in Shiraz (Iran). The survey was made with the help of field research and questionnaires were used for collecting the data. The population is the Shiraz's citizens in 2017. The sample was 400, which was calculated using the Cochran's Formula. The city was divided into three parts. Three districts first, third and seventh are the clusters that were randomly chosen from these parts.
The boomerang theory make the theoretical basis of research. Boomerang theory refers to the backward of the actor on his action. The findings of the research shows that the Shirazi citizens are more concerned about the state television than on the other media such as the satellites, the Internet and the social networks. They do not watch TV in certain times, but when they find time.
The viewers perceive the news and commentaries content and pre-empt the entertainment and music transmissions. In addition the findings show the television have few influences on the behavior and the thinking of television users. The samples spend more with trips and fans in their free times als watching TV. The general results of the research show that it can not be talked about “the audience crisis” at state television viewer and expect more entertainment and better qualities programs.
