Satisfaction of Patients Admitted to Emergency departments in the teaching Hospitals of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, 2016

Abstract:
Background And Objectives
Patient satisfaction is one of the important indicators of the quality of the services of emergency departments. This study aimed to determine the satisfaction rate of patients referred to emergency departments of teaching hospitals of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences.
Materials And Methods
In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 193 patients who referred to the emergency centers of teaching hospitals were selected by time sampling during one week in each three working shifts. The patients who entered the study should at least have 6 hours of hospitalization. A satisfaction questionnaire approved by the Ministry of Health was used to collect data through individual interviewing. The study data were analyzed using appropriate descriptive and inferential statistics and SPSS Ver. 22.
Results
The mean score of patient's satisfaction in both departments was 64.66 with a standard deviation of 10.26. The highest level of satisfaction related to nursing services, amenities and Waiting time for diagnostic tests result, and the lowest level of satisfaction was related to teaching patients during discharge time and the waiting time for physician visit.
Conclusion
Although the satisfaction rate of patients in Emergency Centers, in particular nursing services, was acceptable, in some cases, such as patient education during discharge and timely attendance of a physician, more monitoring and effective measures are needed from the managers of the these departments.
