The heroic man's typology in ancient Persian romance tales

Characterization and Type creation of male protagonist in Persian old stories is based upon traditions which are derived from ancient Iranian kingdom and religions. A survey based on six cases proves that there are three types of male character in the ancient Iranian stories. First type, is the mythical hero of the Saam dynasty, i.e. Zaal and Rostam, the champions of Iranian book of Kings. This type reflects attributes ofthe divinity of verethragnaor Bahram, which has Indo-Iranian origins. The second type is related to the Old Iranian kingship and royal families who possessed the Divine “Farr”. Characteristically, this figure demonstrates the ideal form of Iranian kings and princes. Though related to the court traditions of Persian banquet, the third type or the amorous wine loving “troubadour”, is considered an independent one because of certain properties.
