Comparison of triangular and semicircular barriers on combustion quality in a micro-combustion chamber

Abstract:
In this paper, the combustion of premixed methane air in a micro-combustion chamber is numerically investigated. Simulations have been made for a combustion chamber of 18 and a width of 3 millimeters. The results show that with an increase in the input speed of less than 0.9 m / s, a flame will be formed inside the combustion chamber. However, with further increase, the flame input speed does not occur within the enclosure. In order to increase the range of flame stability, the semicircular and triangular barrier in the flow is placed and the results are investigated. The results show that by placing a triangular barrier with a blockage ratio of 0.5, the flare range can be increased up to a speed of 21 m / s and with a semicircular barrier of this value up to 19 m / s. Also, with an increase in the coefficient of obstruction, the flare range increases, but the pressure drop in the flow will also increase. The simulation results show that the maximum flare range is equal to the equivalence ratio of one and will decrease with increasing or decreasing the equivalence ratio of the flare area.
