Monitoring of Physicomorphology Characteristics of Southwest Coastal of Khuzestan Province in order to investigation the effective parameters on the improvement of engineering characteristics

Abstract:
In This research, we investigated physicochemical, mineralogical, morphological and aggregation attributes as effective parameters in mechanical-civil engineering indices in the southwest coast of Khuzestan, especially Arvand Free Zone. In this regard, 40 collected samples were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), LPSA and EC methods. Based on EC results, EC range from 5.15-31.8 and the lowest and highest value belongs to Khorramshahr and Abadan, respectively. Due to the inverse EC relation with the increased corrosion of concrete structures, therefore, antiseptic cement should be used in stabilizing Abadan coastal sediments with methods containing cement compounds. According to XRD data, calcite and dolomite minerals have a very high distribution on the coasts. The presence of these carbonate compounds also requires the use of stabilizing lime base such as cement-lime, cement-lime-silica. Minerals such as halite and gypsum increase the need for anti-corrosion stabilization methods. According to SEM data, spherical morphology has a dominant shape on the studied beaches. Also, plate micromorphology, caused by the abundance of calcite minerals, provides an appropriate sorting in the process of coastal fixation. The Q10-Q50-Q90% in studied sediment indicates sediments grain range from 1 to 21 μm. The fine granularity of coastal sediments in the study areas shows that the use of larger granulation materials can also be effective in increasing coastal stabilization.
