A Spatial Analysis of Crime in the Marginal Area of Islamabad (Zanjan) Using Geographic Information System
The marginalization is one of the most important issues that poses numerous security issues to police managers in Zanjan.
The research method is descriptive-analytic based on library studies and field studies. The statistical population included 14,549 committed crimes (evil, addiction, strife and hooliganism, street harassment, drug trafficking, illegal sex, house theft, vehicle theft, the sale of prohibited goods, smuggling of goods and alcoholic drinks, stolen property purchase, picking pockets, public and governmental property theft and murder) in the peripheral region of Islamabad, Zanjan, during the years 2014-2015. The results of the compilation of criminal information in the Islamabad neighborhood indicate that the highest crime rates in this area are in the northern areas and near the Islamabad Park. This region is very high, high, and moderate risky area of crime. Subsequently, there are areas of 20-metri Shahid Madani Street, especially the junction of Homayoun Road (the place for gathering and selling narcotics). These areas are more threatened with economic crime and theft. Then, areas of western and eastern regions are also added to crime hotspots. The rest of the neighborhood is also in the last rank of crime with very low crime rate. In this way, the results of the data integration show that the districts of the public and populated areas, as well as the business districts, are more vulnerable to crime than most other areas, and are considered as crime hotspots.
