Compare approaches to sustainable development in Iran and other countries

Development is a transition process from the status quo to a desired status in cultural, social, political and economic aspects. Sustainable development is considered as one of the major issues in the world, and its associated concepts and issues are under continuous development. Quantifying the growth rate of a country is among the important issues for the managers and researchers, which is achieved by developing various indicators. In the current study, we show the status of sustainable development in terms of indices reveals an improper position of Iran in comparison with other developed countries, especially for the indices of welfare, global gender gap and environmental sustainability. Finally, we suggest the need to focus on the role of Iran’s nature and people as key factors of development in the comparison. We also suggest the need to institution-building as a way of better development of the country.
