The Effect of Life Skills Training on Mental Health and Academic Performance of Female Primary School Students
Since life skills affect many aspects of life, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of life skills training on mental health and academic performance in students in Tehran. The research method was semi-experimental and pre-test-post-test with experimental group and control group. A total of 50 students were selected by random sampling method in two experimental and control groups. The experimental group was randomly assigned to 10 sessions (45 minutes each) During a three-month period, they were subjected to an intervention in life skills training. To collect the data, the Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) and the total score of the students' monthly exams were used. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS software using multiple covariance analysis and Wilcoxon and Uonom-Whitney tests. The results showed that life skills training could improve mental health and academic performance of students, and the participants in the post test tests showed better mental health and better academic performance (P> 0.05) 0 p <). It seems that life skills training can improve the mental health of children and improve their academic performance. Therefore, planning to provide such training to students is very important.
