The Effectiveness of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy on GAD Incidence and Substance Abuse

This is a quasi-experimental study with control group and experimental group with pretest-posttest design. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of dialectical behavioral therapy on GAD general anxiety and drug abuse in teenagers in Delphan.

The statistical population of this research is adolescent drug users in Delfan. Entry requirements for subjects include scores of 14 and above in the Beck Depression Test and no treatment, such as medication or psychotherapy, in the field of depression at the time of the research. Research instrument, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy Program, Generalized Anxiety Scale (GAD).

The results of KVA analysis indicated that there was a significant difference between the scores of the two groups (P = 0.001 and F = 0.49 (= 38), respectively) and the true zero-point hypothesis was not confirmed. Therefore, the hypothesis of the research on the effectiveness of dialectical behavioral therapy is confirmed by GAD's general anxiety. As shown by Eta, there is a significant relationship between the pre-test and post-test of GAD general anxiety (Eta = 0.19). The effect size is 0.57, which indicates that 57 percent of the change in the dependent variable is related to the independent variable.

Therefore, dialectical behavior therapy is effective in reducing the overall anxiety of literacy students, so educators should pay attention to this point.
