Evaluating and monitoring the impact of environmental design on crime prevention and its effect on citizens' sense of security through the CPTED approach(Case study: Nematabad neighborhood, Tehran)
The crime is caused by several factors that one of them is physical factors. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to investigate the role of environmental design in crime prevention in Nematabad neighborhood of Tehran, as well as providing solutions to improve the conditions of this neighborhood.
The present study was conducted in a descriptive-analytical approach by using a field method. So, by using the Cochran model, the sample size was determined 364 people. In the next step, based on the results of the questionnaire, field observations and official documents, the analysis of the findings was done using SPSS software. Finally, the overall effect of CPTED's first components on crime prevention in Nematabad neighborhood was investigated. Has been.
Research findings indicate that the principles of environmental design for crime prevention in the Nematabad neighborhood were not adequately respected so that, the average of environmental design indicators for crime prevention in the Nematabad neighborhood is 2.90 in Likert range (1-5), which is even lower than the mediocre level. At a more detailed level, among the CPTED criteria, indicators of management and maintenance (3/10), territoriality (2.95), natural surveillance (2.90), access control (2.89), activity support (2.63) had the highest average, respectively.
