Soltanieh urbanization in the Ilkhanid period

Abstract:

After the Ilkhanids invaded Iran, they began to build large cities These cities were inspired by the cities of the preceding period and based on their structure One example is Soltanieh. The first and foremost city that Oljaytu built was Soltanieh. According to historical documents before the Mongol invasion, It was a monastery where the Mongols went after the Tabriz capital for hunting during the summer. This study aims to study Sultanieh city in terms of structure and reason for the emergence and decline of the city. The plan that Ghazan Khan sought to implement was completed by Sultan Muhammad Khodabandeh (Al Jaito). The glory of the city was destroyed by the Timur invasion and became a ruin. The purpose of this study is to get acquainted with Ilkhanid city and urban planning as well as Soltanieh as one of the important capitals of this period. This research has been done using library documents and historicallyanalytically. The results of the study indicated that the city, like other Islamic cities, had different components.
