Evaluating the quality of master degree thesis of Educational Psychology graduates
The purpose of the present research was to evaluate and identify the quality and the weaknesses and strengths of different sections of master's degree thesis in educational psychology at Tehran universities. The research method was evaluation and the statistical population included all the master's degree theses in the field of educational psychology at Tehran universities during the 2013-2016 academic year. Of these, Alzahra University, Tehran University, and Allameh Tabataba'ei University were randomly selected. Using stratified sampling, 90 thesis were randomly selected. The tool of research was a researcher made checklist including 6 components, 30 indicators and 83 variables. The Lavashi content validity was estimated at 0.92. The reliability correlation coefficient with the stability formula between coders (ICR) was calculated at 0.80. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.The findings showed that the status of 63/3% of thesis’s indicators were undesirable, 16/7% quite desirable, 10% desirable, 6/7% partly desirable and 3/3% quite undesirable. Also among the six components, the general status of the research component was undesirable, the discussion and conclusion was undesirable, the foundations and the history of the research was desirable, the research methods desirable, the theoretical basis issues were desirable and the analysis of the findings was quite desirable. In order to improve the quality of the thesis, suggestions were made to suit the current educational structure and facilities.
