Women or, more generally speaking, human beings are among the most supreme creatures of Almighty God. One of the purposes behind the creation of women based on Qur’anic verses and Islamic traditions is developing the process of the creation of human beings and, at a lower level, granting perfection to the creation of men and protecting the survival of human generation. This study was carried out to clarify the nature, status, and place of women in creation, place of women in the Holy Qur’an and hadith, Islam’s attention to women, the changes in the place of women in Iranian culture in previous periods, women’s place in family and Iran’s legal system and, finally, women’s functions in their various roles in society. The findings of this research indicate that women complete the creation of human beings and their opposite sex or men. Men and women have always held an equal place in Islam, and if there are any differences, they pertain to their different roles and duties. Iranian women have always received great respect since ancient times, and goddesses were considered sacred in some cultures. In case women were ever the target of cruelty or misdeed, it was imposed by foreign agents or cruel rulers who tried to force them to yield to servitude. The role of women in life and family is greater than that of men. In the convoluted road of life, women play different roles as daughters, wives, mothers, etc. the most important of which is motherhood. This study was conducted following the library method, and since the topic and content of this paper enjoy an Iranian-Islamic nature, the authors have mainly benefitted from religious books and the related sources, as well as the theories and ideas of scholars, theoreticians, and sociologists who are well-versed in Islam and the norms of Iranian culture and families.
