The Role of Pavement Planning in Continuous Urban Development

In Iran, in planning of the cities, not only pavement is as an independent part of urban space but also it is considered a function of motorist movement. Car planning has always had priority over pedestrian planning. This study analyzes the connection between pavement planning, ecological, social and economic aspect in Shahrdari Street specifically the distance between Tajrish and Qode square. The methodology of this study is descriptive – analytic. The present study through the study of Tajrish to Qods shows that many Characteristics of pavement planning has a close relationship with quality of life in cities such as convenience, clean environment, on foot trip encouragement, reduction of fossilized fuel-related costs, decreasing use of private vehicles and elevating social interaction in order to achieve continuous urban development in Tehran.
