Quantification of social justice in a public transportation system
This article describes and calculates the amount of equity in the distribution of the public transportation services. By combining access and mobility, the concept of connectivity as the primary benefit of the public transportation system introduced for citizens is provided. Vertical justice approach was selected as the approach. The number of people without personal car was considered as an indicator of the need for public transportation services were considered. The urban zones in terms of the enjoyment of the benefits of the system as well as the needs were arranged. To investigate the social justice in the form of public transportation Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient and the Gini coefficient and Lorenz curve plot were used. The results showing that service delivery is not commensurate with need. In addition, areas with high priority were identified for development services.
