Abstract:
The present study tries to examine the effect of communication and information technologies on the Diasporas’ communication and collective memory in different parts of the world. In doing so, documentary research is used. Collective memory or past in common stimulates the Diasporas to have always the desire to come back to the main land and to be in touch with. The findings of the research indicate that due to the potentials of the communication and information technologies, the global communication have changed the concepts of diaspora and collective memory; since these technologies through time and place distance reduction, provide the possibility of continuous communication among Diasporas. Accordingly, the feeling of being in exile and being away from the main land is changed among Diasporas and more importantly, the possibility of media nation state establishment for diasporic communities is provided. Key words: Diaspora, Diasporic Communities, communication and information technologies, collective memory, nation-state
