The Relationship Between Perfectionism and Aggressive Behavior In Female Basketball Players

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between perfectionism and aggressive behavior in female basketball players in Esfahan. Statistical universe was the total female basketball players in Esfahan (105 players). 80 female basketball players were selected by convenience (within reach) sampling. Frost Multiple Perfectionism Scale (1990) and Bredemeier Athletic Aggression Inventory (1975) (hostile aggression items) were administered to collect data. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that: there were negative significant relation between the concern over mistake and hostile aggression, between doubt about actions and hostile aggression and between parental criticism and hostile aggression (P≤0/05). The results also revealed that: there was no any significant relation between the parental expectation, personal standards and organization with hostile aggression. Furthermore, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that, concern over mistakes could significantly predict the hostile aggression through one step.
