The epistemology of metaphysical implications in esoteric traditions with an emphasis on the conventionality of the language of the Qur'an (Pragmatic Approach)
The existence of esoteric implications for the Qur'an is one of the well-known beliefs among Muslims that has a narrative origin. The esoteric implications mentioned in the narrations which are at either customary or metaphysical levels have been accepted by Quranic scholars at the customary level. But at the metaphysical level, they have been considered incompatible with the idea that the Qur'an is ethnic. Therefore, in resolving this inconsistency, some have taken the side of customary language and considered the Qur'anic language to be customary and thus denied the metaphysical implications and the narrations containing them. On the other hand, accepting metaphysical implications, Others have been forced to admit two types of language in the Qur'an and have presented the theory of customary-metaphysical language. The present study, based on the approach of pragmatics in understanding meaning, examines the nature of metaphysical implications and concludes that these implications are among the implications that are rooted in the individual knowledge of people and not only they are not incompatible with conventional language but also they are conventional discourse, Therefore their usage can be considered valid for the divine word by preserving the customary nature of the language of the Qur'an.
