A Brief Overview of the Two Destructions in the Baqī Cemetery
In this article, first, the stories of the first destructions of the Baqī Cemetery and its reconstruction between the two destructions are discussed. Then, the shrines of the Imams buried in the Baqī Cemetery are described in a number of the travelogues written before the second destruction. After reviewing the second destruction of the cemetery, Iran’s relevant reaction, especially the role of the Howayda family, is examined based on historical documents.
