Assessment and Monitoring of Meteorological Drought in Saman County Using DIP Software
Drought is a creeping environmental phenomenon that has many destructive effects on the affected area. This phenomenon occurs periodically due to reduced rainfall in any type of climate. One of the most important and fundamental steps in drought and wet period studies in each region is to determine the indicators based on which the severity and continuity of drought and wet period can be assessed and then determine its impact on water resources in the region. The application of drought indicators in summarizing many of the effective parameters in drought is useful for planners at different levels. In this research, PNI, DI, SPI, ZSI, CZI and MCZI indices have been used to monitor the drought in Saman county. In this study, DIP software is used to calculate meteorological drought indicators; and the value of these indicators for the Pole Zamankhan station of Saman county in a period of 53 years (1966-2019) has been estimated and analyzed. The results show that the curves of the three indices SPI, ZSI and CZI have a similar trend and are almost identical. Also, the trend of the PNI index is in line with the trend of these three indices, but slightly spicy and intensify. The DI index has a trend similar to the four mentioned indices, but the intensity of fluctuations in the bottom and peak range of the chart is very high. The MCZI index is quite different from the other five indices in trend and in determining drought. The MCZI index on an annual scale is not able to display and determine the drought and wet period of Saman county, because the results are almost the same for all years (Moderately dry).
