The Role of Gender Differences in Styles of confronting Stress and Psychological Health
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the role of gender differences in styles of confronting stress and psychological health among 403 students (206 male students and 197 female students) in Tehran University. The participants answered to a confronting scale related to stressful contexts and to a general health questionnaire. The results of multivariate analysis showed that girls acquired better scores in avoidance, and emotion oriented styles, and boys were better in problem oriented styles. In addition, the girls were weaker than boys concerning the signs of psychological health. The results of the study stressed on the gender differences in confronting styles in order to explain the signs of physical and psychological health among students.
