A Study on the Desired Programming Model in Radio Road Using the Capacity of New Media Technologies

Abstract:
Radio, as the main car media, can play a role in developing culture and reducing road accidents by providing traffic information, entertainment and educational programs, information and tourism development. The present study was conducted with the aim of typology of road radio, achieving desired methods of program production and recognizing the capacity of new media to establish road radio in Iran. This research is conducted based on the theory of uses and gratifications, through the case study method and with regard to the environmental capacities. The purposefully selected sample size includes 7 road radios in different regions of the world (USA, Russia, South Africa, UAE, and Canada) which have been analyzed based on the categories extracted from documentary studies and theoretical foundations. The results showed that road radio has a variety of music, educational, magazine and multimedia content. the favorable design of radio program, road environmental capacities (geography, nature, natural attractions, cultural and social events, recreational places) and traffic and environmental conditions in this area are very important. New media technologies have made it possible to provide location-based services, and therefore, it is possible to establish road radio in Iran on the main roads of the country according to the capacity of local radios and using the capacity of smartphone applications.
